We drove to Zion National Park from Cedar City.  The views along the way were as incredible as those in the park.  The tiny town of La Verkin delivered an overlook as grand as the Grand Canyon.

We went to an Imax theater outside of Zion and viewed a wonderful movie about the park.  Zion features a main road that follows along the canyon floor until the canyon narrows too much for a road.  A walking trail starts where the road ends and continues even farther into the narrowing canyon.  At the end of the walking trail, hikers are given the option of continuing their hike up the river.

We walked the trail but were not prepared to continue the walk up the river.  We also decided against making the strenuous two-and-a-half-mile walk up to Angel's Landing.  (Sorry, Pam.)  Our walk included several mule deer sightings and several wild turkeys crossed our path.

We also saw some mountain goats or bighorn sheep (we don't know which they were) on the way out of Zion.  Four deer ran across the road in front of the van.

We are spending the night outside of Bryce Canyon National Park.  After we see Bryce Canyon we will either head to Capitol Reef National Park or drive one hundred fifty miles back to the south to see the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
